Asia is ver“more interpreters and specialists who know both languages to work in those fields. In 2014, the largest numbers of Western tourists to Thailand came from Russia. Thailand will certainly need more Russian- speaking tour guides. One of my missions here is to enhance coopera- tion between Thai and Russian universities. I’ m working to create more sophisticated educational exchange programmes like exchanging professors, arranging joint research, etc. I’m very happy Russian language studies are becoming more popular in Thailand. If this trend continues, our government will allocate even more scholarships to Thai students.Do you call this region home now?philosophical ideas and cultural influences which I found very intriguing. I can’t imagine my life without that experience. Thailand, where I am now, is a wonderful country – lovable people, warm, nice, polite and sincere, in a fabulous landscape. I have been here for one year and still have three years ahead of me and I plan to travel extensively to experience different parts of the country and culture. But yes, all in all, Asia is my second home, particularly if you keep in mind that half of Russia is in Asia too. When I retire I’m sure to keep myself busy with activities related to Asia, be it academic or leisure, like learning Asian art, poetry, painting or calligraphy. Asia is inside of me. It takes up a big part of my soul.y dear to my heart.
