Bangkok Design Week 2019
January 26 – February 3, 2019
The second annual Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW 2019) is already upon us. Organized by the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister and Creative Economy Agency, it serves as a showpiece for urban designs that fuse the traditional with technological advancements, particularly digital; marketing and production and successful business with social enterprise, all aimed at improving quality of life.
TCDC, now housed in the historic Grand Postal Building on Charoenkrung Road, is helping to spearhead this neighbourhood as a Creative District that can support local, commercial interests and community wellbeing. Design projects include innovations to improve public space and moving about on foot. The participating exhibits are well mapped out with conveniently displayed directions, displays, crosswalks and even bus shelters and benches created by local designers
In addition to exhibitions, workshops, performances and film screenings at TCDC, there will be activities like the Charoenkrung Community Furniture Competition featuring street furniture produced from recyclable materials organized by TCDC and Vivi Home Decorative Co, Ltd that can be seen at the Talad Noi (Noi Market) in Khlong San district across the Chao Phraya River in Thonburi. Other happenings are taking place on Rama I Road in the Siam shopping district.
Free shuttle service is being provided between the TCDC and the Saphan Taksin BTS station at Exit 1 as well as between TCDC and the Hua Lampong MRT station at Exit 1.
