Editorial Note

December 2014 / January 2015

What a wonderful world. As I travel for work through many regions around the globe, observing and learning from different surroundings and societies, I feel like I am called back to my childhood. When I was young, I dreamed of working as a publisher like my father, and I have had the good

fortune to do that. Another dream was to be a magazine editor, and I have been appointed as editor of various Thai magazines in the past. This career has been a pleasure, because I love to listen to people and have conversations that can broaden my mind and deepen my appreciation, and

many of these people have become my close friends, and finally my writers, 555…

Elite+ has been my first opportunity to work on an English-language magazine, thanks to the investors and sponsors that made it possible. We like to think globally and implement locally for each article inside. Many of the changes in the evolution of Elite+ have come from our readers. As

requested, more content in this issue comes from a female voice. Another request has been to hear more Western voices, and readers can see the response in this issue.

From West to East, the cover article emphasizes the International Publishers Association (IPA) congress to be held in Bangkok from March 24 to 26, 2015. This is an exciting event that will bring intellectuals and literary figures from around the world to discuss content and exchange ideas. It is an

opportunity to hear from and contribute to a strong publishing network, whose aim is to boost freedom of expression, copyright mechanisms, world literacy and reading culture.

I would like to invite our sophisticated cosmopolitans to join the congress discussions and exciting excursions in my beloved country. For more information and details on how to join the programme, please visit www.ipabangkok2014.com. You are all welcome there.

Warm regards,
Arthorn Techatada
