Hajime Robot RestaurantFood is served and used dishes are collected by robots. It may not be as entertaining as a Star Wars movie, but it’s the only one of its kind in Bangkok. Walk past the two robots guarding the doorway and you can see the two parallel robot tracks, with seating to either side separated from the robot area by a glass partition. Moving through the area are two white robots dressed as samurai warriors. You can choose between all-you-can-eat shabu shabu (349 baht), barbecue yakiniku (529 baht) or both (579 baht). From a touch-screen monitor at your table, choose from meat, seafood and vegetable options. There is also a dessert menu. After ordering, grab sushi, salad, miso soup and drinks while you wait; these are included in the price. And voila! The samurai arrives to save you from hunger. It places your food tray by a hole in the partition for you to reach through. You can also place used trays there for the robot to collect. Most interesting might be the motion ballet required to manage the many trays. The robot must stack them and move them around, as it only has two arms, much like the humans it replaces. And don’t worry if you don’t capture it all on camera the first time; type in another order and the robot will repeat the performance.3rd floor of Monopoly Park Plaza, Rama III Road; 11am-10pm, last order 9.15pm; 02-683-1670.54 Elite+
