Bangkok Voted Favourite Leisure City In The World  By Business Traveller China Magazine Readers

At a gala dinner for the 15th Business Traveller Awards held recently at the New World Beijing Hotel, Bangkok was named as the most popular leisure city destination for 1019 by the magazine’s readers. Bangkok came out on top in a final round of voting conducted by this Chinese-language periodical that included Tokyo and Shanghai.

 

After hearing the news, Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang posted on his Facebook page is pleasure with the announcement, saying, “We still occupy the hearts of tourists all over the world as the most attractive global city and the most popular destination in the world,” going on to say that he and his administration will continue to persevere to improve the city’s infrastructure and offerings to better serve visitors while also providing opportunities for business owners to earn higher incomes.

It was also reported that Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn reiterated the Thai governments commitment to introduce measures that will help reduce the burden on tourists caused by the strong baht. Awards covered a wide range of categories in the travel and hospitality industries, including the best airlines, hotels and serviced apartments, airports and destinations.

Of note, The Sukhothai Shanghai was named Best Design Hotel and second Best New Business Hotel in China, which also helps to promote the Thai brand.
