The Embassy of the Philippines joins the people of the Philippines and the Filipino community in Thailand in celebrating the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood.
May the commemoration of this significant event serve as a reminder of the courage and heroic sacrifices of our forebears, which paved the way for the freedom that all Filipinos have the privilege of enjoying to this day.
The innumerable acts of valor, patriotism and nationalism, which culminated in the establishment of the Philippines as Asia’s first independent republic 128 years ago, deserve to be honored not just ceremonially, but more importantly, through our collective efforts to continuously strive to fulfill the promise of our hard-fought independence.
Each Filipino is called to celebrate and exemplify the spirit that is embodied in this year’s theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan”. (Freedom. Future. History).
This is a call for us to work shoulder-to-shoulder, hand-in-hand, to ensure that our freedom today moves us forward to a future that fulfills the aspirations of the nation.
