Pichet Sithi-Amnuai: Sharing Insights into the Securities Market of Thailand

So many dark days and so much rain can often damper spirits. Wars in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan and Myanmar are also causing concerns as are the local political uncertainties as well as the divisive US presidential election, which has seen a major transformation with the withdrawal of President Joe Biden and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate, which is discussed in our Country Portrait column. Meanwhile, we have seen a shift to the left in the governments of the United Kingdom and France, bringing with these wins, a sense of optimism.

So, in this issue, we offer you insights into the Thai economy and investment with our Cover Story interview with Pichet Sithi-Amnuai, president of Bualuang Securities, chairman of the Association of Thai Securities Companies (ASCO) and vice chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). After this, HE Ernst Reichel, ambassador of Germany to Thailand, expounds upon the 75th Anniversary of Germany’s Basic Law, which marked the beginning of the second democracy on German soil. In this issue, we also learn what climate-vulnerable developing countries are facing in an article co-authored by Mia Amor Mottley, the prime minister and Finance minister of Barbados, and Wale Edun, the Finance minister of Nigeria and chair of the African Governors Forum.

Elite+ is also very excited to introduce Khunying Vinita Diteeyont, author of the soon to be launched The Barefoot Billionaires, translated from the very popular Thai version, เศรษฐีตีนเปลา, by Lucy Srisuphapreeda, which provides humorous insight into rural Thailand. We also tell you about Austrian Lifestyle Week 2024, some mystical villages in Bali, authentic Mexican dining at El Santo Bangkok and more birdwatching in Cornwall, UK.

To close this issue, we feature another short story by national artist Seksan Presertkul, “Symphony of Water, Dance of Clouds”, in which he again takes you fishing in the waters off the Trang coast, after which Ezra Kyrill Erker gives you a tour through his photo essay of the small southern French town of Uzès.
