Ambassador of Mexico to the Kingdom of Thailand

This year Mexico celebrates 215 years of independence and our diverse mosaic of cultures and rich history. In 2025, Mexico is proud to have for the very first time in our history a female president, a dynamic economy ranked 15th largest in the world and one of the largest networks of free trade agreements. We are also the 6th most visited country in the world and have a respected presence in the multilateral arena.
Moreover, half a century ago, in 1975, our two nations formally established diplomatic ties, signalling the beginning of a journey defined by mutual respect, cultural admiration and a growing partnership grounded in trust and goodwill.
Though separated by geography, Mexico and Thailand are united by rich histories, vibrant traditions and an abiding commitment to peace and cooperation. We are two countries with ancient civilizations that have flourished through resilience, innovation and profound cultural identity.
In these past 50 years, our relationship has blossomed—from formal diplomacy to people-to-people connections, from trade and investment to educational and cultural exchanges and from dialogue to genuine friendship. Over the past five decades, Mexico and Thailand have worked hand in hand on regional and multilateral platforms where our countries have spoken in defence of sovereignty, sustainable development, and inclusive growth.
We are proud of the strengthening of our economic ties, with bilateral trade reaching new heights in recent years. Mexico is Thailand’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America, and Mexico’s leading trading partner in Southeast Asia. These numbers reflect not only growing commercial engagement, but the confidence our business communities place in one another.
Yet beyond trade statistics and diplomatic communiqués, it is the human connections that define our bond. Over the years, thousands of Thai and Mexican students, artists, chefs, entrepreneurs and academics have crossed borders to share their talents, stories and dreams.
As Ambassador of Mexico, I have had the privilege to witness first-hand the deep affection and admiration Mexicans feel for the Thai people and vice versa. I have been struck not only by the grace and dignity of Thai culture, but also by how naturally our traditions align—from our respect for family and spirituality to our music, our cuisine and our joyful celebrations.
This year, as we celebrate this golden anniversary, we also look ahead—with ambition and optimism. We envision a future where Mexican and Thai universities deepen their academic exchanges, where our culinary traditions create fusions that delight the world and where technology and innovation form the new bridges of partnership.
And so, on this milestone occasion, allow me to extend my deepest gratitude to the Royal Thai Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai–Mexican Chamber of Commerce and to every individual—Thai and Mexican—who has contributed to building this bridge between our two nations.
May the next fifty years be filled with even deeper understanding, stronger cooperation and greater friendship.
And may the enduring ties between Mexico and Thailand continue to inspire and uplift both our peoples.
