Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Thailand
on the 102nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye

At the outset, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to His Majesty the King, the Royal family and the people of Thailand for the passing away of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, whose grace, compassion and dedication have left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
Today marks the 102nd anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our citizens and greet the friendly people of the Kingdom of Thailand.
On 29 October 1923, following a heroic War of Independence, under the visionary leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, has risen the newly founded Republic - with democracy, equality and progress at its heart. More than a century later, we continue to uphold these values with pride and determination.
Atatürk’s timeless proverb, “Peace at Home, Peace in the World”, remains the cornerstone of our foreign policy. This pillar and President Erdoğan’s vision for the "Century of Türkiye" continue to drive efforts towards sustaining peace, dialogue and prosperity. As a reflection of this, Türkiye, with its global outreach, extends a humanitarian and friendly hand to those in need and continues to stand against injustices.
Having celebrated the quincentenary of its diplomacy two years ago, the Turkish Foreign Ministry pridefully carries forward this rich heritage. Türkiye has now the 3rd largest diplomatic network with more than 260 diplomatic missions globally.
The Turkish Embassy in Bangkok continues to underpin Türkiye-Thailand relations, unabated, since its establishment in 1958. Alongside a broader diplomatic network in the region, Türkiye is represented with resident embassies in 10 of the 11 ASEAN member states.
As an indication of our increased focus towards the region, the Türkiye’s Asia Anew Initiative outlines a comprehensive policy towards Asia and the Pacific. We will continue to seek mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities with ASEAN and its members states.
At a time of global turmoil, fostering closer engagement with partners is all the more important. Türkiye and Thailand enjoy a long-standing friendship rooted in mutual respect and key attributes that we proudly share. Going back to the initial engagements and royal visits as early as 1890’s we have progressively developed cordial relations between our nations throughout the centuries.
Over the years, our bilateral relations have deepened in multiple domains, including trade, tourism, culture and our defence industry. We share a vision of dynamic growth, regional stability and inclusive development. Turkish-Thai relations progress on a positive agenda ,and there is a solid joint interest in exploring further cooperation opportunities.
Bilateral relations have gained another dimension with the increasing number of Thai students studying in Türkiye and the diverse scholarships programs. We will continue to encourage students from Thailand to apply for the best education opportunities in Türkiye.
On this meaningful day, as we celebrate the founding of our Republic, I would like to acknowledge the spirit of friendship that connects Türkiye and Thailand. I am confident that we will continue to work together in advancing our shared goals for a more peaceful future.
